Global Coffee Market Sees Export Growth and Price Fluctuations

Global coffee exports for the current marketing year (October-August) increased by 0.2% year-on-year to 127.92 million bags, signaling stable supply levels, according to the International Coffee Organization (ICO) report from October 6, 2025. Vietnam, the world’s largest robusta producer, reported a 10.9% rise in coffee exports from January to September 2025, reaching 1.230 million metric tons. Vietnam’s 2025/26 coffee production is forecast to grow 6% year-on-year to 1.76 million metric tons, a four-year high. Meanwhile, Brazil’s crop forecasting agency Conab revised its 2025 Arabica coffee crop estimate down by 4.9% to 35.2 million bags, though total coffee production was only slightly reduced to 55.2 million bags. The USDA projects world coffee production in 2025/26 to rise by 2.5% to a record 178.68 million bags, driven by a 7.9% increase in robusta output offsetting a 1.7% decline in arabica production. Ending stocks are expected to increase by 4.9% to 22.819 million bags. These dynamics have exerted downward pressure on New York coffee prices, with robusta prices also under pressure from increased Vietnamese supplies (Nasdaq, October 27, 2025; Baonghean, October 28, 2025). Domestic Vietnamese coffee prices rose slightly by 500 VND/kg in key growing regions, reflecting local market stabilization (YouTube Nông nghiệp xanh, October 27, 2025).

JDE Peet’s Acquisition and Operational Update

JDE Peet’s announced progress on its acquisition by Keurig Dr Pepper, with the transaction expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending customary regulatory and closing conditions. The company has submitted the required antitrust filings in the United States and received positive feedback from its Dutch Work Council. Additionally, JDE Peet’s has completed the integration of its US capsule business into Peet’s Coffee and discontinued the L’Or Barista rollout in the US market. As part of manufacturing optimization, two plants—one in Brazil’s northeast and another in the US northeast—will be closed. The company’s third-quarter performance aligns with expectations, and it terminated its share buyback program as of September 1, 2025 (Global Coffee Report, October 28, 2025).

Advances in Coffee Machine Technology

Innovations in coffee equipment continue to evolve with new partnerships aiming to improve efficiency and sustainability. A recently announced collaboration between OhmIQ and UNIC has the potential to revolutionize water heating systems in professional coffee machines, enhancing energy efficiency and operational performance. This innovation was highlighted during Host Milano, a key event for the global HoReCa sector, showcasing emerging technologies shaping the future of coffee service. Additionally, technology is advancing throughout the coffee supply chain, including precision tools like the Cropster BrewBeacon, which integrates with espresso machines to optimize brewing quality and consistency (Global Coffee Report, October 28, 2025; Perfect Daily Grind, October 28, 2025).
